CHESS
Is there a better game? I love the game, but I'm not a very good player. In fact I am not even a very fair player. But not to be deterred I play anyway. These days, if I don't want to flaunt my ineptitude, I can play against a computer in complete anonymity. I learned one great opening, in four moves if my opponent does not catch on or accidentally move a piece in my path, I can earn a checkmate. But alas it seldom works, even against a computer, or maybe I should say, especially against a computer. The internet has been a bonanza for a hobby player like myself. Chess games abound. You can play opponents from anywhere in the world. I have played people from China, the Netherlands, and of course, all over the USA. Several have the capability of chatting as you make your move, and if your cyber-partner is chatty you might learn a few things about their country. I don't study the game, as a serious chess player would, so I never get any better but I love it anyway and my opponents don't seem to mind. If I'm not very good, the next person probably will be.
I have included here several sites that I go to. When I run into more, I will add to the list.
